What is a SIL House?
Every Ability Assist SIL house is more than just a place to live. We provide an NDIS-supported independent living environment where people with disabilities and complex care needs thrive in a shared arrangement while receiving essential support to enhance their daily living skills. In these unique living spaces, individuals will find an environment tailored for personal growth and community engagement.
Our goal here at Ability Assist is to support people with disabilities and complex care needs to create the ideal residential living environment where they can flourish as individuals, live life on their own terms, and find a home that suits their needs for the long term. We achieve this goal by providing dedicated independent living support.
The Independent Living Support Provided by Ability Assist SIL Housing
With Ability Assist SIL housing, people with disabilities and complex care needs will have dedicated support workers available 24/7 (if required) to assist with various daily tasks, including cooking, personal care, cleaning, medication management, attending appointments, outdoor activities, and participating in community events. We support participants with transportation and can organise regular excursions and outings for individuals and their housemates, enriching their experiences and fostering social connections.
In an Ability Assist SIL house, daily schedules are in the hands of participants. Whether they are passionate about specific hobbies, activities, or events, or you’re eager to learn and explore new opportunities, we provide in-home opportunities tailored to their preferences. We facilitate connections with like-minded individuals and community groups who share their interests, ensuring a vibrant and engaging living experience.
Moreover, our team works closely with individuals to enhance their existing skills and develop new ones, empowering them to live more independently. In our residences, individuals have their own bedroom and share other facilities with their housemates. Visitors are welcome, and residents have a say in everything happening in the house. We prioritise their comfort, safety, and happiness, ensuring they feel at home and supported in every way possible.
