Understanding Targeted Care Packages (TCP)
At Ability Assist, we provide Targeted Care Packages (TCP) through funding and approval from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). These packages offer personalised and flexible support tailored to the needs of children and young people. Our TCPs help children transition from residential care to more suitable living arrangements or maintain their current living situation with the necessary support.
Our goal with TCPs is to create a safe and secure environment where children and young people can thrive. This stability allows them to pursue their personal goals and participate in daily activities essential for their healthy development.
Collaboration and Implementation
We develop our TCPs in collaboration with DFFH and various youth services. This teamwork allows us to craft innovative, flexible, and personalised solutions that meet the unique needs, goals, and dreams of each child and young person.
Who Can Benefit from a TCP?
Two groups may be eligible for a Targeted Care Package:
1. Children and young people at risk of entering residential care.
2. Children and young people currently in residential care.
Eligibility is for those under a Child Protection order, and referrals to Ability Assist are made exclusively through DFFH. More information about this is found here.
How TCPs Support Young People
When young people are assigned a TCP, we provide a dedicated Key Worker who will:
– Help you develop and enhance your life and living skills.
– Assist you in achieving your educational and employment goals.
– Encourage you to connect with your community based on your hobbies and interests.
– Connect you with specialist services that best meet your needs.
– Ensure your voice and wishes are heard and respected.
